The following photos show the Norwich
Heritage Walk where it runs along the Yantic River between Maple Grove
and Sturtevant Ave. This is an especially delightful area of the
Walk where you almost feel you are out in the woods, and not just two
blocks from downtown.

The map on the left shows the Heritage Walk in red.
The
area between Maple Grove and Sturtevant Ave is shown in
green.
The
Walk is across the Yantic River from Holly Hock Island. The
Utopia group's proposed development plan includes
turning Holly Hock
Island into an amusement park and parking lot. I have
great concern about the future of the Heritage Walk if
this happens, and especially the area shown below in the
photos.

Wind on the water gives it an impressionistic
look.
What will the view be like if Utopia builds an amusement park
and parking lot on the island?

Island.
Will the river end up as a trash receptacle for
Amusement Park Visitors? Will the City be responsible for
picking trash out of the river?
What will keep visitors from trying to walk
across the river? The Yantic isn't very wide so the
proposed development will be quite close to houses on Maple
Grove, Goldberg and Sturtevant.
The elevated sewer pipe runs across the river.
You wouldn't even know what the pipe is except
that there is sign below it.

This photo would make a great puzzle.
